Maurice Turner commits to Louisville football

Louisville arrived in the Running Back race in the 2022 class yesterday when Maurice Turner announced his commitment. Turner is a 3-star athlete from Georgia who lists himself at 5-9 / 179 pounds. He was recruited by Derrick Nicholson, Gunter Brewer and Derail Sims, but it sounds like Scott Satterfield was personally involved in this.

UofL wanted one run back in this class and had a handful of guys that they did in person. Turner visited at the end of June and spent the whole day with the coaches. There’s a good chance the rehearsal is when Satterfield was more involved in recruiting. Turner also has offers from UCF, Tennessee and Cincy.

Louisville gets a new fast player to attack as Turner drives 4.7 forty and is said to be able to set up a 4.2 shuttle camp this summer. His highlights show he has great versatility when he grabbed 40 passes as a junior. Turner has a frame to put on 10 to 15 pounds, which would get him roughly around the size of Running Backs Satterfield. They want guys who can hit the home run in the open field, and Turner has that kind of ability. His additional ability to play slots should help their goal of expanding the roles of Running Backs in the feed game.

Turner removed the tweet, in which he marked Kirby Smart and the parody Jimbo Fisher account as he cut the first and third plays of the video below. In the two shows he highlighted, he runs right past Texas A&M with Deyon Bouien, who is among the top 60 players nationally and the fifth best player in the state of Georgia. I remembered that he wanted to highlight his own skills, but it’s also nice to see him win one of the best players in the country pretty easily.
