No. 9 Women’s golf in fifth place after the second round at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO, Minn. No. 9 The Texas Women’s Golf team blocked 3-over-291 on Tuesday and rose three places to fifth (291-291 = 582, +6) after the second round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M at Royal Golf Club. Completed transfer Brigitte Thibault led Longhorn by a flat par 72 on Tuesday and is in a tie at 20th in individual series 2-over-par 146 through 36 first holes.

Thibault played the first nine on the first Tuesday, but turned over in a 3-over pair, but answered with a birdie in hole 1 and an eagle in par-5 hole 9 to return to a tie in his round. Senior Sara Kouskova is Texas’s best individual in the draw in 11th place at 1-over-par 143 (70-73).

The season-opening ANNIKA 12-team field includes 10 teams that rank among the top 16 WGCA coaches in the pre-season division. No. 10 South Carolina holds the team’s lead of 10-under-566 (278-288), while No. 3 Wake Forest is second (572) and No. 2 Duke is third (573). Ole Miss’s Julia Johnson owns an individual lead of 10 under-134 (67-67), five strokes ahead of Arizona State Calynne Rosholt and South Carolina’s Hannah Darling (139).

ANNIKA Intercollegiate ends with 18 holes on Wednesday, September 15th. Texas will be joined with Alabama and Arizona for Wednesday’s final round, and tea times will begin at 8 a.m. CT from hole 1.

• Senior Sara Kouskova released 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday and is tied 11th in individual series for 1-under-par 143. Sitting after a 3-over in the 12th hole of a double bogey par-three, Kouskova recorded a pair of birds (No. 10, par-4; No. 18 , par-5) on Tuesday.
• Completed transfer Brigitte Thibault he sped Longhorns on Tuesday with an even pair of 72. He is tied for 20th in individual series after 36 holes in a 2-over-par 146.
• Freshman Bohyun Park block 1-over-par 73 for the second consecutive day and is exactly 20th in 2-over-par 146. He recorded three birdies (No. 17, par-5; No. 2, par-5; No. 9, par-5) during Tuesday’s second round.
• Junior Sophie Guo ranked 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday and is exactly 32nd in the 36-hole total of 3-over-147. Guo carded three birdies (No. 11, par-4; No. 14, par-4; No. 16, par-3) in his second round.
• Second year student Bentley cotton released 3 over 75 pairs for the second day in a row and is tied for 43rd, 36 holes for a total of 6 over 150 pairs.
