The Scottish High School girls tennis team beat Lee County 7-2 on Monday.

Because the Yellow Jackets didn’t have a full list, they lost their No. 6 singles and No. 3 singles.

On the singles field, Laura Wlodarczak won 8-1 in first place, Olivia Aiken won 8-2 in 2nd place and Valeria Carranza won 8-2 in 3rd place. Samantha Collard lost 8-5. 4th place and Maegan Gunnells dropped 8-2 to fifth.

In the duel, Lady Scots won both matches played. Wlodarczak and Aiken won together 6-1 in the singles, while Carranza and Morgan Stewart won 8-3 in the singles.

Scottish girls ’golf is Foxfire’s fourth

FOXFIRE – The Scottish High School girls golf team improved their scores at the second Sandhills Athletic Conference golf of the season.

After being shot as an 184 team last week at Scotch Meadows, the Lady Scots shot together 177 on Monday at Foxfire. Scotland finished fourth out of five teams.

“We improved some from last week as a team,” said head coach David Synan. “Emma (Seales) and Claire (Smith) had their first golf tournament and they did well.”

Faith McCormick led Scotland with 55 in a nine-hole round consisting of game holes 1-8 and No. 18 on the Gray Fox track.

Kelsey Hunter and Berkley Wallace each shot 61, while Seales 68 and Smith 67.

The Scots drop the tight match to Union Pines 2-0

The Scottish high school army boys football team dropped a tightly controversial match 2-0 to Union Pines on Monday.

Head coach David Wright said the match scores did not reflect the team’s efforts and how close the game was.

“We’re still learning, making progress and the boys are even better at what they’re doing,” Wright said.

Both Viking paints were born in the first half.

“The two goals scored were the result of simple mistakes made by the players,” Wright said.

The Lady Scots won their second victory over West Columbus

The Scottish high school varsity volleyball team won their second consecutive 3-0 win over West Columbus on Monday night.

The Lady Scots won the first set 25-3, the second 25-12 and the third 25-9.

“We focused on moving our servers to different locations against our opponents and working on smart shots when we didn’t get a good swing on the ball,” said head coach Libby Pearce. “We really tried to make sure our passports hit the spot to help get our attacks.”

Senior Taylor Waitley led Scotland by seven kills, while senior Kate Carter got five and senior Angelle Norton four.

Older banknotes Olivia Hyatt and Kamdyn Morgan made a total of 14 passes.
