Were the officials left unsecured during the overtime of the Seahawks-Titans game?

The Seahawks were spared from sharing a piece of unfortunate history.

About two minutes before overtime against the Titans on Sunday, Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson appeared to be down in the finish line after a stir or in line because he was required to intentionally ground in the goal area. Instead, officials ruled Wilson down the 1-yard line, avoiding the Titans ’walking safety.

Seattle punted after the play. Tennessee then drove a goal and a win of 33-30.

Wilson quickly flushed out of his pocket and ran straight back, and quarterback Ola Adeniyi chased him. Adeniyi caught Wilson just crossing the finish line, but spun free just enough time to ventilate the sideline.

It is unclear whether the ball has gotten back into the fight line. If Wilson had been called to intentional grounding, the game would have ended in safety because he was clearly in the goal area when throwing.

When the Seahawks escaped without safety, Michael Dickson punted for Seattle 48 and Chester Rogers returned the kick 39. Derrick Henry rushed four times 21 yards to put Randy Bullock on the 36-yard game-winning field goal.

If the game had ended safely, it would only have been the fourth time in NFL history that the sequel match would have ended together. The last time it happened was on November 1, 2013, when the dolphins defeated the Bengals 22-20.
