Rindge, NH Le Moyne College’s women’s tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday at Franklin Pierce University, 4-0, at the Northeast 10 Conference at The Tennis Courts.
The Ravens, the defending champion of the conference, earned the first point of the match by winning the first two matches that ended in the doubles competition. First place went to Himani Mor and Anais Geslin, who won a double championship at the ITA East Regional on Sunday, won by seniors Birdem Oz (Istanbul, Turkey / TED Ankara College Foundation HS) and junior Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador / Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil), 6-1. Estela Carra and Liria Loria were also 6-1 winners in second place over the postgraduate student Marta Nunez (Rye, NY / Antonio Lopez (Spain)) and the second year Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru / Prescott Anglo American School).
Franklin Pierce won the match by winning all three first singles matches. Carra won 6-2, 6-2 in fifth place over Lilliegren. Zoe Asterio Correa won 6-3, 6-3 in sixth place among the parents Brooke Fernandez (Shirley, NY / William Floyd). Geslin, who normally plays in Ravens ’first single position but was moved to third today, won the Ravens match by beating Nunez 6-1, 6-3.
Le Moyne (2-1, 1-1 NE10) will return to action at Assumption University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
