The NCAA Committee recommends raising the football recruitment class to 2022

The NCAA Football Control Committee has moved forward the recommendation to raise the 2022 signature class limit by up to seven additional seats as a means of compensating for transfer gaps. The Title I Council will vote on the final adoption of the proposal on 5 or 6 October.

The move will be at the center of coaches ’efforts to complete their list more fully during the one-off transfers that began this year with no penalty. Transfers have also increased since the introduction of the transfer portal in 2018. Current NCAA rules allow a maximum of 25 players in the new football signature class and 85 fellows. If this proposal is accepted, teams can replace up to seven outgoing moves that exceed the 25 player limit.

This will give coaches some relief, said Todd Berry, president of the American Football Coaching Association and a silent member of the oversight committee.
