Nigel Pearson: Bristol City Manager Test Results for Coronavirus Football news

Bristol City coach Nigel Pearson’s coronavirus is positive and he will leave his team for the next two league matches.

Pearson, 58, isolates for 10 days and the club said he has not had “constant close contact with the playing team” since Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home against Fulham.

Assistant Manager Curtis Fleming will be in charge of Robins ’championships at Millwall and Peterborough on Wednesday and Saturday.

Bristol City CEO Richard Gould said: “I am sure everyone at the club and our supporters wish Nigel a speedy and complete recovery.

“In the meantime, Curtis will take responsibility. He has been in regular contact with Nigel and we wish him and the team all the best against Millwall tomorrow.”

Former Watford head coach Pearson has previously recovered from the coronavirus and revealed in late 2020 fought the virus when Britain was locked for the first time during the spring.

During an interview with Sky Sports, he revealed how he struggled after the fight.

“When I got Covid infection in March, I wasn’t in particularly bad shape, I didn’t have a lot of symptoms,” Pearson said in November 2020.

“I didn’t feel right, but otherwise I felt good. It has evolved later.

“I had some heart problems and then common problems … it was a difficult time.

“During August and September, I was definitely in a particularly bad shape. But the medications I use now certainly help a lot, and there are a lot of people out there who experience the same.”

When Watford fired him last summer, Pearson took over City in February and signed a new three-year contract in April.

City is eighth in the league table after a five-game unbeaten match before Wednesday.
