Uvaldeans is preparing for post-season tennis

District 29-4A champion Uvalde High School tennis team members have a couple of weeks to get into the post-season playoffs.

Since then, the Uvaldea have five two-team matches left on their 2021 team tennis schedule.

On Saturday at UHS’s Terri Rambie tennis complex, Uvaldeans will host Laredo LBJ Wolves and Pleasanton Eagles.

The LBJ match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and the Pleasanton match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Coach Terri Rambies Coyotes and Lobos, Season 14-5, crushed San Antonio Stevens and La Vernia in a duel last Saturday.

They won a 19-0 win over Stevens and beat La Vernia 18-1.

Ty Gonzalez won the boys ’singles singles match against La Vernia and, along with Michelle Miller, won the mixed match.

Colton Gaston and Jack Brock won doubles and number three matches, respectively, and they combined their wins to win the boys ’singles singles match.

Jacob Flores won the fourth match alone and Hector Lopez won number five. Together, they won doubles number two.

Damian Weigand won one number six match and, along with Reilly Mize, won the doubles number three.

Lobos swept three doubles.

Winners included Elizabeth Phillips and Hope Dube, Allison Goggans and Reagan Dodson, and Joana Reyes and Victoria Reyes.

The lobo singles were Elizabeth Phillips, Hope Dube, Reagan Dodson, Joana Reyes and Zoe Faust.

The Uvaldeans won 11 extra matches, while in the junior team game, UHS won 18 of the 21 matches played.

Against Stevens, it was the complete supremacy of the UHS as they won all 19 matches and did not lose a lot.

The singles winners were Allison Goggans, Elizabeth Phillips, Hope Dube, Reagan Dodson, Joana Reyes, Zoe Faust, Ty Gonzalez, Colton Gaston, Jack Brock, Jacob Flores, Hector Lopez and Damian Weigand.

The UHS winners in the doubles were Ty Gonzalez and Michelle Miller, Elizabeth Phillips and Hope Dube, Allison Goggans and Reagan Dodson, Joana Reyes and Victoria Reyes, Jack Brock and Colton Gaston, Jacob Flores and Hector Lopez, and Jonathon Garcia and Armando Garcia.

They won 10 extra matches, while the Junior team surpassed Stevens in 15 matches out of 16 matches.
