PRIOR LAKE-Best placed Prior Lake beat the Worthington Highs girls tennis team 5-2 here on Thursday in Section 2AA.
We lost a lot of close matches, said Trojan coach Mike Marquardt. There were great points and awesome determination (shown). Unfortunately we didn’t get through, but what a fantastic trip the team had. Thanks again to all the family and friends and classmates who supported us.
Our team is ready, but the individuals will continue.
The Trojans were won by single players Kessie Aljets and Bailey Newman. Aljets won 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5), while Newman won 6-4, 6-1.
The Trojans did not win the series in a duel.
WHS senior Marah Darling dropped to number 1 on the singles 6-0, 6-1. Also, the singles match was dropped by Trojans Ivy Jenson (6-0, 6-0).
The Worthingtons double teams that lagged behind were Taya Oberloh-Brooke Nordseth (6-1, 6-1), Calah Riley-Madison Scheffer (6-1, 6-1) and Taylor Nordseth-Hannah McNab (6-1, tandems) . 6-3).
