Patrick Mahomes is arguably the best player in the entire NFL. The 26-year-old has already made three Pro Bowls, won an MVP award and led the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl win in just three seasons.
However, Mahomes may be even better in a completely different sport that many fans don’t expect: Ping-Pong.

Mahomes was a superstar athlete who grew up in Tyler, Texas. He was apparently an uber-talented quarterback in his teens, but he also thrived on the basketball court and whitehouse High School baseball field.
When it was time to choose a university, Mahomes decided to pursue both a football and baseball career at Texas Tech. But after his second year at the Red Raiders, he stopped baseball to focus solely on football. It is safe to say that he made the right choice there.
Mahomes finally made it to the NFL in 2017. He is known to have sat as a backup for his junior season for Alex Smith, but he won the job a year later and has exploded ever since. The quarterback threw 50 goals in the NFL high in his first season as a starter, and led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship before falling to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
The following year, Mahomes and Chiefs always went to the Super Bowl and defeated the San Francisco 49ers. They made it back to the Super Bowl in 2021, but lost to Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you follow at home, it’s three AFC championships, two Super Bowl events, and a championship during the first three years as a starter.
At the beginning of his 50 career, Mahomes has thrown over 15,000 yards and 128 touches. He’s already on his way to a Hall of Fame career, and he may already be the best player in the NFL.
But Mahomes may be even more adept at Ping-Pong.

It’s hard to believe that Mahomes could be better in any sport other than football, but that can only be true.
New Mahomes feature Sporty detailing how seriously QB takes table tennis. Hunter Rittimann, his former teammate and roommate at Texas Tech, said Sporty that Mahomes ’best sport“ might be ping pong ”.
Mahomes has a table at home and he plays all the time when he is not on the football field. He approaches the game in the same way as football and regularly examines his opponents to find weak points.
“He can combine strength and subtlety and is hugely proud of his defense,” per Sporty.
Note to yourself: Don’t challenge Mahomes on the soccer field or ping pong table.
Flexibility in competition
Mahomes stretched his muscles memorably when he got his first touch of Super Bowl 54 against the 49ers, but it wasn’t a celebration he made on the football field. The flexibility is actually due to his table tennis ability.
Nic Shimonek, a former Texas Tech deputy -QB, said Sporty that Mahomes loves to talk rubbish on the ping pong table. And whenever Shimonek lost, Mahomes bent his right hand in the same way as in the Super Bowl.
Maybe Mahomes will have another sports career when he eventually retires from the NFL.
