MU XC – women 10th, men 21st, Bradley “Pink” Classic

PEORIA, ILLINOIS Marquette University women finished 10th in the 37 6k “red” race and men 21st in the 31 8k “red” race on the Bradley “Pink” Classic Friday afternoon.

10 women out of 13 and four out of 12 men set personal records at Newman Golf Course.

“Women compete very well, with 10 personal records,” says the head coach Sean Birren.

The women’s 6k started the “red” races in the afternoon. Junior Kendall -frfrimmer led the way for MU women who reached their personal record of 21: 43.4 (6k) and placed 32nd. Kate Jochims followed with the top 50 ranking, in 46th place with 21: 56.6.

Junior Laurel Moneysmith reached a new personal record (22: 06.7) and placed third in the MU women in 54th place.

Postgraduate student Emily Foley (94.) and Junior Emily Noone(118.), who set a personal record in time 22: 42.9, closed Marquette’s top five runners.

“I thought the men would have gotten a few seats by getting in a better position, but I think the way they competed today will go perfectly with the needs of the conference in two weeks,” said the head coach. Sean Birren.

Men’s 8k “Red” Race, Freshman Dan Weizeorickthe men’s pace was 25: 15.0 and ranked 72nd.David Zeller (87.) finished four seconds after Weizeorick and reached a new personal record with a time of 25: 18.9.

Zak Kindl (96) and Patrick hetlage (125.) came next across the line of MU men so they could set their personal records at 25: 24.8 and 25: 33.8.

August Beyer (138), Jordan Janusiak (25: 46.3) and Austin Burke (166th) completed Marquette’s seven runners in the “red” race.

WHITE BREEDS:

Freshman Lexi Keppler ranked first for the women who came in 69th and reached a new personal record (6k) at 24: 26.2. Freshman Gianna Konen (25: 52.7) and the freshman Gretchen Pfeiffer (26: 38.5) also set new personal records, ranking 130th and 148th.

Grace Dargiewicz ranked second behind Keppler for the MU women and ranked 123rd.

The MU men finished fourth in the “white” competition out of 35 teams.

At its first collegial meeting Tyler Re boosted the men who finished 18th at 26: 11.5. Cade Ferron (21.), Jadon Conroy (29) and Greg Van Hollen (40.) all ranked in the top 40 of MU men.

Junior Patrick Burns finalized the MU men who came in 52nd.

“As a coach, I think you always see ways an athlete could be better, but in the heat of today’s events, they ran so well, and I’m proud of the efforts I’ve seen and the results achieved with those great efforts.” coach Sean Birren said after a Friday night meeting.

NEXT:

Both teams are preparing to compete at the Illini Open on Friday, October 22. This is their last encounter before the BIG EAST Championships in Carmel, Indiana on October 29.
