It was a tough old time for F1 commentator Martin Brundle on his pre-race grid run at the US GP.

He wasn’t robbed just once, but twice as he walked the track hoping he could talk to some of the many celebrities who took part in the race.

Even without locking his eyes with Brundle, the music star and tennis player were dragged into orbit. Rap feeling Megan Thee Stallion winds along the grid of American track. He had a full entourage in towing, but that, too, couldn’t stop Brundle from approaching the 25-year-old with a microphone in his hand.

“It’s a very big guy in front of him,” Brundle said. “Megan, Martin Brundle on British TV, how are you?

“Megan Thee Stallion, you’re a freestyle rapper.”

The bodyguard who cleared the package for Megan didn’t care who the Brundle F1 icon, whose pre-race grid flights have become after stopping watching Sky TV — was or for whom he worked. The big bopper in front didn’t let anyone near his client.

However, the rapper gave his bodyguard a light blow to announce that he would be able to deal with the commentator.

Brundle asked the musician a strange question: “You are a freestyle rapper, do you have any rap for us in Formula 1 today?

Megan laughed before answering, “I don’t have rap today, I’m sorry.”

I wanted to continue the conversation. Brundle asked, “Who do you support in the race?”

Before the rapper had time to answer, another member of Megan’s party – considerably smaller than the larger bodyguard ahead – refused to ask Brundle a new question.

Brundle clung to himself and said to the man, “I can do it because I did.”

As Megan and her posse continued their journey along the track, Brundle thought, “Okay, he seemed very happy to talk, right? It’s very nice of him and I appreciate it. “

Unfortunately for Brundle, this wasn’t his only awkward celebrity encounter of the day.

The 62-year-old continued his journey on the track and found two sports legends in deep conversation.

“Let’s go down here, we have (golfer) Rory McIlroy and (tennis star) Serena Williams,” Brundle said.

“Venus (Williams) didn’t want to talk to me five years ago, I don’t know if I’ll get a double mistake or an ace.”

Brundle stood a meter away from the duo, awkwardly waiting for the athletes to end their conversation.

But as soon as Williams started moving away, Brundle saw the opportunity and asked, “Serena, can I talk?

“Serena, are you good at chatting?

“Martin Brundle, British Television.”

Williams didn’t stop, shrugging his shoulders at Brundle as if to say, “Sorry, but I have somewhere else to be.”

Assessing the exchange, Brundle admitted, “It’s a double mistake, it’s a double mistake.”
