Rapid City Stevens honors the state champion girls tennis team

RAPID CITY, SD – The Rapid City Salso the girls tennis team recently ended a successful and record year.

Head coach Json Olson achieved the 1000th victory of his career, Aat Scott earned his career 100th doubles victory and the Raiders won the state championship.

The ceremony was held on Monday at Howner The Gymnasium honors Rapid City Salso girls tennis team.

Head coach Json Olson talked about the team’s success this season.

In addition, a banner was unveiled recognizing the team’s most recent state title.

The Raiders won the state AA girls tennis title on October 8 for the fifth time in school history and for the first time since 2006.

Stevens also had four singles singles champions; Anna Mueller on flight 3, Abby Sherrill on flight 4, Emma Tfervor on flight 5 and KAiya Psheet on flight 6.

In addition to winning the state championship, the Raiders ended the regular season with a complete 28-0 record.

Salso the tennis team dedicated the previous season to the former Salso assistant tennis coach Dan Sherrill who went last DDecember.

“At our first team meeting in July, we decided to dedicate the season to coach Dan Sherrill, head coach Jason Olson said. “All season they just never forgot. When things got harder or who we were playing for, there’s a bigger thing here, and they just got stuck together. When you have 40 girls outdoors, there’s always a little drama, things happen. But we were so mentally healthy all season because they supported each other. And when things went wrong, they supported each other.
