The Chestertown, Md – Washington College field hockey team won 2nd place Johns Hopkins at the Blue Jays 5-0 Centennial Conference on Wednesday even at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. Shorewomen drops to 6-10 (2-7 CC), while Blue Jays improves to 16-0 (9-0 CC).
How did it happen
– Junior striker Sadie Abboud gave the visitors all the necessary score for only 3:42 match when he took the center pass from senior striker Maddie Brown-Scherer and put the winner of the game past the right corner of the goalkeeper. Sasha Dennis.
– Senior striker Izzy Thompson scored the first of two consecutive goals in just over three minutes in the second quarter, giving Johns Hopkins a 2-0 lead. The goal was scored after a post-center shoot, and Thompson then managed to plunge into the goal.
– Thompson struck again just over a minute later when he made the second winner a point out of nowhere after the Shorewomen goalkeeper’s first fight. Ava Rivera, who replaced Dennis after the second goal.
– Fresh midfielder Ava Balacek scored 4-0 in the third quarter without passing 7:08. Balacek carried the ball in a circle and shot through Rivera’s legs, which was played in the play.
– Junior defender Anna Scott scored the last goal of the evening from Abboud’s penalty corner. Scott sent a rocket from the top of the circle to the left corner of the cage past Rivera.
