BETHLEM, Pa. – American University won the Patriot League field hockey regular season championship for the 12th time in program history after winning an unbeaten league on Saturday at Colgate 3-0. The Eagles will host the 2021 Patriot League Field Hockey Championship at the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex when the semi-finals begin on Thursday, November 4th.
Well. 1 The Eagles (11-3, 6-0 PL) have lost to the Patriot League 10 times under head coach Steve Jennings. They hosted Lehigh No. 4 (11-5, 4-2 PL) in the semifinals as head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer’s Mountain Hawks made it to the four-team championship field for the first time since 2011. American and Lehigh open the semifinals for coverage. 11 a.m. ESPN +.
Lafayette (13-4, 4-2 PL) took second place after defeating Bucknell 3-2 in a double overtime in the regular season league final on Saturday. Head coach Jennifer Stone and Leopards get into the championship field for the 21st time in the program’s history. Defending Patriot League champion Bison (8-8, 4-2 PL) earned a third seed when head coach Jeremy Cook and his team set a league record for the 24th championship field. The live broadcast from Leopards vs. Bison starts at 2pm on ESPN +.
