Aussie Legend Dylan Alcott announces his retirement from tennis

Dylan Alcott announced the end of the professional tennis Australian Open in early 2022.

The 30-year-old is one of Australia’s all-time favorite athletes, not only because of his incredible ability on the field, but also because of his spirituality.

Now, after a wonderful seven-year career, the big man himself is saying goodbye to a game he says has played his life.

“I feel like I’ve done everything I need to do on the tennis court,” Alcott said at a news conference.

“I have known for some time that this day is coming.

“It’s been an incredible journey, and I think it’s time to move on to the other things I’m doing.

“I see when I say I’m going to practice my ass for the next two months and try to get to the top.

“I hated myself so much. I hated my disability. I didn’t even want to be here anymore.

– I found tennis and it changed and saved my life.

“Now I’ve become the only male ever in any tennis who has won a Golden Slam, which is pretty cool.”

In recent months since the Paralympics, Alcott has expressed interest in withdrawing, but insists he remains focused on winning his eighth consecutive championship at home at the Australian Open.

“It’s perfect to get to the top, and Dylan has a chance to go to the Australian Open and get the recognition he deserves,” Australian tennis legend Todd Woodbridge said. Nine.

“I’ve seen Roger Federer master his time and stress and still achieve great things, but Dylan takes it to a new level.

“Being able to cope with the attention Dylan gets in Melbourne without losing focus, getting angry or tired shows how wonderful a person he is.”

Alcott has had a great career, but this year – in particular – was distinctive.

Just a few months ago, the lovable larrin also won the prestigious Golden Slam tournament after winning all four of his finals as well as Paralympic gold in Tokyo.

His trophy cabinet at home would look pretty crowded.

Alcott now has an impressive 23 Grand Slam titles and five Paralympic medals, three for tennis and two for wheelchair basketball.

“To me, he’s one of our greatest athletes because he’s opened up to so many other people. He’s shown every athlete what they can do,” Woodbridge added.

“Just being with Dylan is so motivating, he’s been an exceptional role model for so many people.”

Alcott will undoubtedly become the greatest wheelchair player in history, but his activities outside the field have made him a fan favorite among sports fans around the world.

“Dylan’s personality has driven this sport to the highest level internationally,” Woodbridge noted.

“He has helped create better equality, better prize money and better visibility.

– They were not going to play in wheelchair events at last year’s US Open, and with his statement, he got the decision overturned and made the organizers realize it was wrong.

“He has given so many people the opportunity to make a career in wheelchair tennis.

“His biggest contribution is showing the community that injury shouldn’t stop you.”
