After returning to practice with the Detroit Lions, Jared Goff “trend” to play on Thanksgiving

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions get to Thanksgiving without winning for the third time in franchise history, but they could get an extra kick downtown this week. According to coach Dan Campbell, quarterback Jared Goff is “churning” towards a return to the holiday game.

After Goff left Sunday’s 13-10 loss to Cleveland Browns due to an oblique injury, Campbell said Goff looked “better” on Tuesday during practice.

“I’d say with a 60 percent chance it’s 50-50,” Campbell said jokingly about Goff leading the division game against the Chicago Bears.

In Goff’s absence, Lions caught Tim Boyle, who struggled in his first NFL run. He fed a total of 77 yards with two cuts and made 15 passes out of 23 with a pass value of 34.1.

Goff skipped all of last week’s practice while dealing an injury he suffered in the 16-16 overtime with the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field in Week 10.

However, he returned to rehearsals on Monday in a limited role and then participated again on Tuesday. Still, Lions are following the situation closely.

“He’s tough,” Campbell said of Goff. “And honestly, it’s part of my concern that I know how hard he is and he says he’s true, but I know how badly he wants to play and he’s experienced a lot, played a lot, and I appreciate it. About him, but I want to make sure he’s definitely ready to leave, and I think that’s a trend in that direction. “

Although he says he feels better every day, Goff described himself as “the end of the game day.” He described pain management as a delicate dance in which it is not pushed too far. However, competing on the Thanksgiving stage and embracing the history of franchising motivated him to return, as he has never played on vacation.

“I haven’t played in it, but I’ve heard it all. I knew this was coming all year and I was excited about it,” Goff said. “It’s a tradition that’s been on this team for a long time, and I hope I can make my mark on this game this year.”
