Syracuse, NY – The Syracuse football team is 13 points weaker on Saturday as it hosts Pittsburgh in the final game of the regular season, and the line has swelled as the week progresses.
Orange opened by 11 points as an underdog, but the line has moved towards Pit as the game approaches. Fourteen of the 16 rows used to form VegasInsider.com consensus listed the game at 13 points, while two still favored Pitts by half a point.
The consensus over-under is 57.5 points.
The match will be played on Saturday at 7.30pm at the Carrier Dome and will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
The match is interesting in that Syracuse has to win to achieve six wins and eligibility, a goal the team has often discussed during the season, while Pittsburgh has nothing but pride, history and love of victory.
Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said earlier this week that he does not expect the Panthers to rest any player to be in full force at the team’s ACC championship in Charlotte next week.
Two players, quarterback Kenny Pickett and winger Jordan Addison, compete for prestigious national awards. Syracuse, meanwhile, has Sean Tucker, who competes for the NCAA crown.
The match looks difficult for Syracusa, whose attack has seemed one-dimensional over the last three games. The Panthers is ACC’s best stop run, one dimension that has been effective all year in Orange.
Syracuse has been a bigger underdog only once this season when it hosts Clemson (13.5 points), and winning would be the biggest shock to Orange after being amazed by Clemson in 2017 (23.5 points). Orange is 3-6 the underdog this season.
Pittsburgh have won the last three games of the series and are 4-1 against head coach Dino Babers.
