Colgate cut Gophers ’11-match women’s hockey winning streak – Twin Cities

Kalty Kaltounkova scored two goals in the second round of No. 8 for Colgate, who averted two October losses by winning the Minnesota 2-1 Smashville Women’s Collegiate Hockey Showcase on Saturday in Nashville, Tennis.

The win broke the third-place Minnesota 11-game winning streak, which included Colgate wins 22-23. October.

Madeline Wethington scored a power goal 2 minutes, 32 seconds into the second set, giving Minnesota (12-3) a 1-0 lead before Kaltounkova leveled the game with a powerful goal at 13:16. Kaltounkova took the Raiders with a tie at 9:33.

Hannah Murphy stopped 28 shots at Colgate (14-4) and Skylar Vetter stopped 22 Gophers returning to the WCHA games this weekend at Ridder Arena at their best in Wisconsin.

NORTH TEXAS 81, ST. TOMAS 54

Quincy Noble set a game record of 18 points and Amber Dixon added 16 when North Texas won the second round of the St. Thomas Holiday Beach Women’s Basketball Classic in San Luis Obispo, California.

Jade Hill scored 16 points for Tommies, six rebounds and four assists (1-4). Teammate Jo Lengbehn added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

St. Thomas will return to St. Paul to host Northern Iowa on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
