The Wisconsin football team may not be playing in the Big Ten championship series this weekend, but the coaching staff is still in a lot of hurry. They still have to recruit for their 2022 class, and home visits are currently a priority.
The Badgers ’2022 class is a smaller class this year with only 13 committed players so far. They currently rank 43rd nationally and 9th in Big Ten according to 247Sports. The Badgers also have a couple of walks, but they haven’t added any players yet. There are still a handful of players that the Badgers are trying to get, including three state four-star recruits.
Here are five players the Wisconsin football team will continue to aim to add to the 2022 category.
1. OL Carson Hinzman
Carson Hinzman is currently the highest rated non-aligned player in the state of Wisconsin according to 247Sports. . A 4-star lineman is predicted to play inside the offensive line at the university.
He has more than 20 scholarship offers from Division 1 schools, schools such as Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame and many more.
Early thoughts were that Hinzman would be a slam dunk for the Wisconsin football team, but Ohio State has been in the midst of his recruitment and is considered a serious threat. Evan Flood of Badger247 still believes Wisconsin is sitting in a pretty good position for Hinzman.
2. OJ Billy Schrauth
Billy Schrauthin recruitment is probably one of the craziest back and forth recruitments Mäyr has had in a while. Like Hinzman, Schrauth is a 4-star offensive lineman from the state of Wisconsin. He has the last four in Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin. But his recruitment has really landed in Notre Dame and Wisconsin.
For a moment, it felt like he was heavily a Notre Dame skinny. But during the summer, Schrauth visited Wisconsin brilliantly, and the badgers were suddenly seen as a favorite and some even thought he was quietly committed to the badger.
Then again something changed. He planned to visit Notre Dame more, and Notre Dame editors suddenly began to have a much better sense of the opportunities for the Irish.
Evan Flood still believes Wisconsin sits in a good spot with him because his Crystal Ball still supports Wisconsin.
When Brian Kelly left Notre Dame, many people thought it would help Wisconsin’s chances, but when Tommy Rees, Notre Dame OC, stays in South Bend, things may not change that much.
Things could go crazy in the next two weeks. Schrauth is expected to sign with the team by the early signing period (December 15), so his decision is likely to be made within the next week or two.
3. EDGE Isaac Hamm
Isaac Hamm is another state 4-star player. Sun Prair’s defensive head was also considered a slam dunk, but his recruitment has gone pretty quiet lately. He might expect a commitment after an early signing period, which may not be good news for Wisconsin.
He’s been to Wisconsin and Louisville, but Michigan’s offer could whisper to change things. He might expect it.
Paul Chryst, as always, is not putting pressure on Hamm to make a decision. So this recruitment can take longer than others.
4. RB Jaydn Ott
Jaydn Ott is a player who I think Badgers still has a good chance of getting. The California recruiter visited USC over the past couple of weeks, but a coaching change made by USC to Lincoln Riley could change that.
You could argue that Ott wanted to go to USC now under Riley’s leadership, but as soon as Riley left Oklahoma, many of his recruits also re-committed, including a 5-star runner. Raleek Brown, also from California. Brown has just committed to USC, so it may be one option for less Ott and a big positive for Badgers.
I think Wisconsin will be involved in its recruitment until the end.
5. S Koen Entringer
Koen Entringer is an asylum from Michigan and a teammate of a newly committed linebacker, Aiden Vaughan. Entringer is 3-star security and has 17 Division 1 offers. His list includes schools such as Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Maryland and Utah.
The Badgers was in a pretty good position with Entringer, but Michigan Wolverines has gotten into recruitment lately and now it looks a little more unknown.
Entringer would be nice to add to the Wisconsin football team secondary game, but we have to see what happens over the next couple of weeks as he is expected to make his commitment closer to the signing date.
