WHITE PLAINS: Michael Dowse is resigning as CEO of the U.S. Tennis Association after about two years in office, during which the coronavirus pandemic led to zero viewership at the U.S. Open in 2020 and increased participation in the sport.
The USTA announced Wednesday that Dowse will resign on March 1st. He was hired to head the tennis governing body in the United States in October 2019, and his term began the following January.
In a press release, USTA Chairman and President Michael J McNulty III praised Dowse for the “steady hand he showed during the exceptional challenge and uncertainty. impossible and helped the USTA refocus on its mission to grow sport at the local level. “
