Brooks is a leading rigger in defense that took Serra Catholic through the WPIAL and PIAA playoffs. The senior defensive head has received a total of 94 tackles, including 28 losses. His total includes the team’s top 15 sacks. Brooks led the Eagles with 13 tackles and two sacks in last week’s semi-final win against Farrell.

How they got here: WPIAL champion Serra Catholic won Beaver Falls in the 35-12 district final and district 10 champion Farrell in the 27-18 PIAA semi-finals.

Farrell made three fumbles and three cuts in last week’s semi-finals. A week earlier, Beaver Falls lost football nine times in the WPIAL final. … Serra was second in the PIAA in 2007 when she lost to Steelton-Highspire 34-15. … Booth and Ward are equal to lead the team with four cuts each… Jayvon Campbell-Holt gives Serra the two most receptive threats. He has 38 catches at 672 yards and eight TDs.

Southern Columbia (14-1)

Player to watch: Gavin Garcia

Enlisted as a Kent State runner, Garcia is the latest brother to perform in South Columbia. He has 7,054 yards in his career after rushing to 107 yards six times last week. The older brother Gaige, older in 2019, graduated as an 8,232-yard runner and made the most touchdowns in state history (159). The other brother, Garrett, is a sophomore in the linebacker.

How they got here: District 4 champion Southern Columbia defeated Mt. Carmelin, 41-14, in the district finals, District 6 champion Richland, 62-20, in the PIAA semifinals, and District 11 champion Northern Lehigh, 56-14, in the PIAA semifinals.
