BENGALURU: Indian whiteball captain Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have begun rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy here after being excluded from a future test series in South Africa due to injuries.

Two senior players were seen at NCA with Indian U-19 captain Yash Dhull on social media. The U-19 team is currently camping at the NCA ahead of the Asia Cup, which kicks off in the UAE on December 23rd.

Rohit, who was appointed ODI captain last week to replace Virat Kohl, was due to travel to South Africa as a Test Team vice captain for the series starting on December 26, but was excluded from a thigh injury during training.

His expected recovery time is three to four weeks. India’s A-captain Priyank Panchal was named to replace Rohit on the test team that arrived in South Africa on Thursday in the series. The senior opener, who took on the T20I as captain against New Zealand last month, is expected to be available to lead the team on the ODI leg of the South Africa tour, which is scheduled to take place in January.

Jade has been excluded from the South African tour due to a knee injury he suffered last month in a New Zealand home test series. It may take longer to recover from an injury.
