Local hockey teams are ready for tournament games across the state this week

One of the most exciting times of every high school hockey season is during the holiday season, when annual Christmas and commemorative tournaments are held across the state.

It all starts on Monday night as the St. Mary boys hockey team travels to the Valley Forum in Medford to return to Christie Serino’s annual Christmas tournament. The Spartans last took the title when the event was last held in 2019, when they ruled Malden Catholic behind Sal Caruson’s stunning online performance and then-freshman Brady Bullock’s two goals and one pass. St. Mary’s, who have started the young season 3-0-1 to this point, will start things off in the opening round against Austin Prep on Monday night (5).
