A former Australian cricketer under the age of 19 who claims to have been sexually abused on a representative tour in the 1980s has revealed the “trauma and anxiety” he has felt for decades.
Jamie Mitchell made the charges ABC told reporters on Sunday that he believed he was raped by a team official on tour in India and Sri Lanka when he was 18 years old.
Mitchell’s talks with Sports Integrity Australia received an Australian Federal Police investigation late last year, and Cricket Australia (CA) is collaborating.
No charges have been filed.

The AAP has decided not to appoint a cricket officer involved in the charges, but he denies any abuse.
In a statement, Mitchell said he was relieved of the 1985 tour being investigated.
“Instead of being the highlight of my cricket life, that tour has caused me trauma and suffering for several years,” he said.
“Cricket Australia has a chance to stand out by facing this problem and doing the right thing.”
Mitchell sends a list of questions to the governing body surrounding the tour, including what the authorities knew about the team official when he led the tour, whether there were any complaints about him, and whether he was fired when he left the cricket soon after. alleged case.

He also asks if CA can generate patient information about the tour, including what the team doctor put on him twice.
“I focus on getting answers and the well-being of the players … I expect Cricket Australia to take this very seriously,” he said.
The CA told News Corp in a statement that the organization is aware of a police investigation into alleged historical crimes that took place on a tour abroad decades ago.
“Cricket Australia is in contact with the alleged victim and is cooperating fully with the police investigation. As the police are investigating the matter, we cannot comment further,” the statement reads.
“Cricket Australia does not tolerate any kind of abuse and is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all staff, participants and their families in all interactions with the game.”
An AFP spokesman said the organization did not comment on specific investigations.
Rightside Legal partner Michael Magazanik, whose firm advises Mitchell, said the CA should provide a comprehensive answer to his questions before deciding on further legal action.
“This tour was in 1985, and it’s not ancient history … it’s in everyone’s interest for the information to be delivered quickly,” he said.
