An ongoing saga Novak Djokovicin Australian Open status culminates this week.

Tennis Australian CEO Craig Tiley says “we’ll get a much clearer picture in the coming days” if Novak Djokovic defends his AO title.

World number one Djokovic, who has refused to share his vaccination status, is currently practicing in Spain, hoping to get a medical exemption to play in the Australian Open starting January 17th.

According to the 2022 Australian Open, all players must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus or have a medical exception. Djokovic hopes to play in the men’s record for the 21st Grand Slam and continue the record for the 10th AO crown in Melbourne.

Tiley says the Serbian position in Australia will be “played in the coming days”.

“We still have a few charter flights coming until the end of this week and then all the players are here,” Tiley told the media. – As for Novak, I think we will have a much clearer picture in the next few days, otherwise it’s too late to come to the Australian Open.

“There’s quite a lot to play, and I think it’ll be out in the next few days.”

The sixth-ranked Spaniard Rafael Nadal, which is at a dead end with its rivals Djokovic and Roger Federer in the 20 Grand Championships, will train in Melbourne for the ATP 250 starting tomorrow and the Australian Open.
