GREENWICH, Conn. A Connecticut coaching hockey player died after falling on the ice and colliding with another player during the game, police said.
The accident happened on Thursday when Brunswick School, a boys ’preparatory school in Greenwich, was playing at St. Luke’s School, a private co-educational school in New Canaan.
A player from St. Luke’s fell on the ice and another player couldn’t stop and collided with the fallen player, Greenwich Police Captain Mark Zuccerella said Friday.
The injured player was transported to Greenwich Hospital, where he died, Zuccerella said.
The names of the players involved and the nature of the injury were not disclosed.
Brunswick School principal Thomas Philip said he contacted St. Lukes officials and the boys ’family to provide support.
