Two indoor stadiums in South Kashmir unfinished after 2 years missing – Kashmir Reader

Anantnag: Two years after the lack of the first deadline and four years after the start of construction, two indoor stadiums – one in the Pulwama area and the other in the Shopian area – are still pending.
Sports enthusiasts in the dual districts of South Kashmir are discouraged and disappointed by the slow pace of projects, especially as the weather in Kashmir does not allow for many outdoor sports.
“We were told they will be completed in two years, and now there have been four of them, but the stadium is not ready yet,” said Rameez Ahmad, a resident of the Rajpora area in the Pulwama area.
The government announced projects for the Rajpora region of the Pulwama district and the Arhama region of the Shopian district. The aim was to involve young people in the area in positive activities.
“Because the ongoing violence in Kashmir had a serious impact on two areas, the stadiums needed to get the youth involved in a positive and constructive way,” an official source in the administration told Kashmir Reader.
Rs 4 billion have been earmarked for each project completed in 2017 and will take 2 years to complete. Games such as table tennis, badminton and other interesting sports were expected to be played under the same roof.
“The delay in completing the projects has been unnecessary and the executive agency is confident to complete the work soon,” an official source said.
Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) is the executive agency for both projects. A company official told Kashmir Reader that the work went smoothly, at least in Rajpora before August 5, 2019 – when Kashmir was locked when Article 370 was read.
“And then there was the Covid lockout. Nevertheless, the pace of work at Rajpora Stadium has been excellent. It will be handed over to the relevant authorities in a week, ‘the official told Kashmir Reader.
An official from the Shopian project said there was an unreasonable delay in identifying the country of the project at first. “Since then, the work has gone fairly smoothly, excluding successive interlocks,” the official said.
He said he hopes the Arhama project will be completed in a couple of months before it is handed over to the government’s youth sports and services department. “Up to two months,” he said of the expected schedule.
