Krishan and Ayla were crowned champions – The Island

Aarya Plus Challenge Trophy Table Tennis Championships

Krishan Wickramarathna from Vidyartha College in Kandy OBA and Ayla Chitty Ladies College in Colombo were crowned champions in the Aarya Plus Challenge Trophy Table Tennis Championship 2021 led by Nugegoda Table Tennis Club at Bandaragama Indoor Stadium this weekend.

Wickramarathna defeated reigning national champion Senura Silva from Ananda College Colombo in the men’s singles final 3-2, while Chitty defeated the Sri Lankan Navy Hansani Piumila 3-2 in the women’s singles final.

Senura Silva, who won the boys ’singles title under the age of 19 and under the age of 17, was selected as the best male player and was awarded the Aarya Plus Challenge Trophy and the Rs Cash Prize. 10,000.00, while Bimandee Bandara won the best female title and Rs cash prize. 10,000.00. Bandara won the singles doubles for both under-19s and under-17s.

Chitty won the starting pass and current national champion Muthumali Priyadharshan in the semi-finals and third place in the Bimandee Bandara semi-finals to reserve their final place.

The main guest of the finals was Aira, Product Director of Rairam Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd, Nirushi Theodore.

The best players, winners and runners-up received cash prizes in this three-day event. The awards, prizes and certificates are sponsored by Raigam Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd.
