For the first time, no one deserves a choice in the Tennis Hall of Fame

For the first time in its history, no new members were elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

The hall has been in use since 1955.

Grand Slam winners Ana Ivanovic, Flavia Pennetta, Carlos Moya and Cara Black were the new candidates in the 2022 class vote, and they joined the rulers Lisa Raymond and Juan Carlos Ferrero.

None of them achieved the required 75% of the votes on the basis of the official voting group – which includes the media, history, the Hall of Famers and industry experts – and the bonus percentage points awarded on the basis of the fan vote.

All six candidates will return to the 2023 class vote because the candidates can stay in the competition for three years.

The induction ceremony will continue to be held in the hall on July 16 to honor Lleyton Hewit, who was elected a Class of 2021 member and was unable to attend last year due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
