Three-star quarterback Zion Turner is committed to UConn football

UConn made a big win on the recruiting path when quarterback Zion Turner announced his commitment to the program on Wednesday.

Turner is a two-threat quarterback from Miami, Florida who visits St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale. Three months started the national powerhouse, Turner went 37-2 and made 62.5 percent of his passes for 4,951 yards and 59 touchdowns.

Turner is rated a three-star recruit for both Rivals and 247. He is ranked No. 37 quarterback in the nation per 247, and ranked third as quarterback in the state. He was interested in several Power Five schools before joining UConn, including LSU, A&M, Louisville and Miami.

Turner committed to UConn after an official visit to the school last weekend. UConn offered him last month.

Turner joins the quarterback room at UConn, which is starting to fill up towards 2022. Real freshman Tyler Phommachanh broke into the stage in 2021 and showed promise in the three games he played. Steven Krajewski, the man who replaced him after a season-ending injury, is less mobile than Roberson and Phommachanh, but is a more powerful pitcher, 148-272 and 10 touchdowns during his UConn career.

The Huskies also added Cale Millen to the move from Northern Arizona, another professional quarterback. They also earned a commitment to transfer Penn State from Ta’Quan Roberson, who once appeared in Penn State in the 2019 season before moving on to the 2020 games. He performed in relief for Sean Clifford, who was injured in three matches in the 2021 season, and went to 11 goals. -28 overtaking and eventually crossing at the QB alternate.

The next day on the UConn football calendar is the nationwide signing date on Wednesday, February 2, as UConn hopes to complete its end-of-year 2022 recruitment class by then.
