The state of Ohio lets Sonny Styles dunker the buzzer to a quiet chatterbox

Most people love to celebrate young people who work hard to make their dreams come true. Especially in a place like Columbus, Ohio, where college football is king. And if a respected recruiter decides to stay home and play in the Buckeyes, even better.

Unfortunately, this is not always the case for some adults. Sonny Styles, Recruitment Class No. 1 in the 2022 Recruitment Class, plans to head to the state of Ohio in the fall. Until then, he enjoys his high school career doing things he’s never allowed to do again, one of which is playing on the high school basketball team.

Styles gave a performance at Newark High School in Newark, Ohio on Friday night. He led his Pickerington Central team into a hostile area for a conference clash. In high school sports, the only hostility should come from the inter-line and perhaps well-practiced student portion. But like far too many high school gyms every night, some adults just don’t seem to restrain themselves.

The 6-foot, 4-inch senior took some comments into his heart, leaving no doubt as to who was the best athlete and team on the opponent’s floor, and sent in a huge dunk at the end of time. After the party, Styles can be seen watching and pointing to the stands saying, “All that drinking, all that drinking. You’re an adult man…”

Note to adults in the auditorium at high school sporting events: Watch the game, support the children, and leave the school spirit to the students. Styles may look like a man even in high school, but he shouldn’t have to put up with adults trying to go back 20-30 years in time. It’s really pathetic.

Of course, the future freshman is likely to face similar adversities at competing Big Ten football stadiums. It’s nice to see that he can take that negativity and use it as fuel in the heat of the fight.

A tip for opposing fans: Don’t drive Styles crazy for the next three or four years. It doesn’t end well for your team.
