COLOMBO: Sri Lankan fast bowler Suranga Lakmal will withdraw from all forms of international cricket in February-March after a tour of India, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said on Wednesday.

Lakmal made its international debut in 2009, playing 68 tests, 86 ODIs and 11 T20 Internationals, taking 285 cards and making 1,179 runs.

The 34-year-old served briefly as captain of the Sri Lankan test team in 2018 in the absence of Dinesh Chandimal due to a ban on tampering with the ball. He won his first match as skipper against West Indies at Kensington Oval.

“We take this opportunity to wish Lakmal all the best for his future endeavors and look forward to his appearance in the country during the Sri Lankan tour of India, if voters like him,” said Ashley De Silva, CEO of SLC.
