Orono, Maine – The University of Maine field hockey head coach, Josette Babineauannounces five newcomers to the 2022 field hockey team, joining Olivia Geniti and Mallory Mackesywho joined the program in the spring of 2022.
“We are excited to welcome these great players to our program,” Babineau states. “They will be joining Olivia Geniti and Mallory Mackesy who were already a part of our program this spring. As a team, we will need to address some of the roles needed for the upcoming season and the incoming players will contribute to our team’s success. They all fit very well with our style and culture. We welcome them to our Black Bear family.”
The seven players joining the Black Bears are:
Julia Berk, a back out of Victoria, British Columbia. She will wear #18 for the Black Bears.
Zoe Furber, a midfielder out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She will wear #14 for the Black Bears.
Olivia Geniti, a midfielder out of Scotia, New York. She will wear #4 for the Black Bears.
Taylor Katusbe, a forward out of Delta, Canada. She will wear #13 for the Black Bears.
Mallory Mackesy, a forward out of Stony Creek, Ontario, Canada. She will wear #29 for the Black Bears.
Kate Richardson, a forward out of Edinburgh, Scotland. She will wear #7 for the Black Bears.
Taylor Stanford, a forward out of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. She will wear #19 for the Black Bears.
The Black Bears will be kicking off the 2022 season with an exhibition against Boston University on August 15. The regular season will begin on August 27 with a road matchup against UMass.
