Herres, Udinski Richmond’s Touchdown Club Tribute

Richmond, Va. The Touchdown Club of Richmond has announced the football award winners for the 2022 football season Jakob Herres(Easton, Pa.)has been named Offensive at the end of the year and Reece Udinski(North Wales, Pa.) has been chosen as the offensive back of the year.

Herres earns the award after capping a successful career in which he finished second among active career leaders in receptions per game (6.08), third in career receptions (225) and fifth in receiving yards per game (77.3).

This season, he caught six touchdown passes and finished second in the CAA in receptions (77), first in receiving yards (958), third in receptions per game (5.9) and third in average receiving yards per game (77.3) en route to being named the CAA: to the first team.

His 958 receiving yards helped the Spiders rank third in the CAA in total offense at 424.1 yards per game. Herres caught a pass in all 13 games and was part of an offense that racked up 3,673 yards through the air.

The Richmond offense was led by graduated quarterback Reece Udinksi, who finished his career ranked second among all current FCS quarterbacks with 11,474 passing yards and first in the nation in completions at 29.08 and second in completion percentage at 73.4.

He led Richmond to the CAA’s third-highest rushing offense at 424.1 yards per game and led the league in passing on 378-of-515 completions for 3,614 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also scored four touchdowns alone this season.

Named a First Team All-CAA quarterback, Udinski is third all-time among the Spiders in passing yards in a season and becomes just the third quarterback to throw for more than 3,000 yards in a season. He is tied for first all-time in a season (515) and 58 in Elon games for second all-time in a single game. His 42 completions in an Elon game are first all-time for a Spider, and his 73.0 completion percentage for the season is the highest ever by a Spider.

He played just one season in Richmond, and his 378 games are eighth all-time for his career. He helped The Spiders get their first ever playoff shutout win with a 41-0 win over Davidson in the first round. He completed 29 of 32 pass attempts, his highest completion percentage of the season (90.3%). With his performance, he set the FCS playoff single-game record for completion percentage.

Herres and Udinski will be recognized during the Dudley and Lanier Awards telecast on Saturday, Dec. 10, where Udinski is also a finalist for the Dudley Award, given to Virginia’s top college football player. The awards telecast will air on CBS6 following the national Army vs. Navy football game on CBS beginning at 3:00 p.m.
