In another cheerful interaction with the media during the post-match conference, former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed talked about his return to red-ball cricket after a three-year hiatus, and his answers were hilarious.
Jo maine 3 balls Kheli hain lunch se pehle, us time meri koi heartbeat check kar leta toh shayad meter hi Phat jaata (the meter would have exploded if someone checked my heart rate during the three balls I played before lunch) said Sarfaraz who did his return against New Zealand earlier this week.

Sarfaraz saves his side from a crucial situation and set up a line of 196 alongside skipper Babar. On Monday, the wicketkeeper-batsman hit 86 runs off 153 balls packed with 9 fours in the first innings against the Kiwis. He took the crease when the hosts were 110/4.
However, he lost his wicket to Ajaz Patel in the 86th over with Pakistan at 306 for five. Pakistan scored 438 runs in Karachi which also included tons by Babar Azam and Agha Salmans.
It felt like I was making my debut all over again, the situation was critical. My teammates knew how I felt. When I came for lunch they consoled me and said Saifi bhai please normalize! he revealed.
Talking about his game, he also said that skipper Babar boosted his confidence throughout the game.
“Coming back to the game after such a long period makes you feel like you’re playing for the first time,” he said.
When I returned to the field, Babar instilled confidence in me. I really needed confidence at that time and he supported me like a senior player,” Sarfaraz told the media.
“Whenever a player plays, there is an effort to be able to play for Pakistan,” Sarfaraz said. “But the last four years were a bit difficult but I stood up for myself. I was around good people and my aim was always to play cricket and not pay attention to other things. Allah gave me the opportunity I was waiting for and I tried to make the most of it. Hopefully opportunities like this there will be more.”
