New Zealand withdraw from ODI series between Pakistan and India

Milne, who suffered a strained hamstring in the recent home series against India, will be replaced by compatriot Blair Tickner, who is already in Pakistan for the New Zealand Test squad.

The fast bowler felt the prospect of playing six ODIs in 16 days in Pakistan and India was too much of a risk.

The decision was made by mutual agreement, and selector Gavin Larsen said it was not an easy decision.

Adam was very open with us about his concerns about the lack of one-day bowling for future rounds, Larsen said.

After talking to him, we agreed that his preparation leading up to the tour would not be enough for him to cope with the demands of a back-to-back three-match ODI series.

We appreciate his honesty and his genuine desire not to let the team down.

Tucker has nine ODI caps since his debut In the Netherlands in March 2022.

Larsen said, Blair’s skills in bowling in the middle and his ability to hit the field hard make him a similar prospect to what Adam offered us.

“The fact that he is already in Pakistan and experiencing the conditions is an added bonus.

New Zealand will play the first of three ODIs against Pakistan on the 9th. January in Karachi.
