The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has hit back at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Seth for his comments against Jay Shah. ACC’s reaction came a day after Sethi sarcastically attacked BCCI secretary Jay Shah for unilaterally announcing the biennial calendar for the Asian Cricket Councils.

On Thursday, Shah as ACC president announced the 2023 and 2024 route on his twitter handle, where the marquee Asia Cup was set up in September this year, although the detailed itinerary and host country are yet to be announced.

In an official statement on Friday, the ACC said: “It has come to our attention that PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has commented on the ACC President’s unilateral decision to finalize and announce the calendar. The ACC wishes to clarify that it has followed an established and proper procedure. Its Development Committee and Finance and the marketing committee approved the calendar at their meeting on 13 December 2022.

In a statement, the ACC further said, “The calendar was then communicated to all participating members separately, including the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), through an email dated 22 December 2022. Although responses were received from certain member boards, no comments or proposed changes were received from the PCB. Based on the above Mr. Sethis’s comments on the social media platform are baseless and are strongly denied by the ACC.
