ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – The Special Olympics Virginia Xperience Tennis Invitational at Boars Head Resort brings together top athletes from around the country to compete.
The annual event is held for the 15th time and is a reminder of how sports can unite us.
There are 16 states in the competition, represented by 30 athletes.
It’s a great event. These are top players, tournament director Ron Manilla said. It’s invitation only and it’s an honor to be accepted because you’re playing with the best Special Olympic athletes in the country.
Players will compete for gold on Tuesday, January 10.
