Projected 5-star defensive lineman for the Irish

Considering how the bottom fell out last season with Keon Keeley, Notre Dame football is on the right track recruiting Justin Scott. The 5-star product of Chicago’s St. Ignatius is a 5-star combo, according to 247Sports. Tom Loy of 247Sports has predicted that Notre Dame will land a talented player away from Chicago.

At 6’5” and 310 pounds, Scott could be physically ready to contribute to the Irish team from the moment he steps on campus. Given Notre Dame’s lack of depth on defense in years past, Justin would be a huge help. The 2024 class is already shaping up very nicely on offense, and if Scott were to commit, the defense would get a huge boost. He plans to announce his commitment on the 31st. January, his birthday.

The big difference between Keon and Scott is the proximity to Notre Dame. South Bend is less than a two-hour drive from Chicago, so it’s a familiar sight for top recruiters to visit. He has many teams pushing for him as the year goes on, and the Irish will fight to land him.

His top 8 schools were Michigan, USC, Colorado, Oregon, Miami, Ohio State, Alabama and of course Notre Dame. A school closer to home would make the most sense to follow through on their commitment when all is said and done, as teams in the South have plenty of big fish to chase close by. Michigan has gotten quite a bit of smoke for Scott over the last couple of weeks, but their situation is somewhat shaky.

Given the NFL rumors about Harbaugh, would a kid want to mess up a school commitment again just to see the head coach leave? Her feelings for the school could be strong enough to overcome such uncertainty, but that seems like a stretch. Regardless, Michigan is among the teams that think they’ll make the cut later this month and on next year’s signing day.

Justin Scott would be one of the best picks Notre Dame football could land in the 2024 class. He’s an outrageously talented player, and it’s a position of need for the Fighting Irish.
