The financial downfall of a cricket star

Michael Clarke could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars after his public spat with partner Jade Yarborugh in Queensland.

One of the Australian cricket legends’ sponsored gigs has already been pulled following footage released on Wednesday afternoon, and another is also in doubt.

Explosive material, originally published by The Daily Telegrapha bystander was photographed outside a restaurant in Noosa on January 10.

In the video, Yarborugh can be heard accusing Clarke of cheating with his celebrity fashion designer ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards.

The 41-year-old can be heard constantly denying the claim and his partner is seen punching him in the face at one point during the shouting match.

Karl Stefanovic and his partner Jasmine Yarbrough, Jade’s sister, were also present during the fracas.

Queensland Police are investigating the incident and no charges have been filed.

Clarke now also has to deal with the financial consequences of the public battle Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, which reported on a possible sponsorship deal with a skincare brand, was pulled within hours of publishing the material.

Doubts are also being raised about his upcoming six-figure commentary gig for the upcoming Australian Test tour in India.

The fight began when the two high-profile couples and their celebrity accountant friend Anthony Bell were having dinner at a beachside restaurant.

It was understood that Edwards and Yarbrough had been in contact, sparking a confrontation with Clarke.

The footage shows a shirtless Clarke limping in the park, surrounded by a group of people trying to calm the situation, while an enraged Yarbrough yells at him and then punches him in the face.

The shouting match took place in front of several people in the park around 9.30pm and was so confrontational that a spectator could be heard shouting at children there as they encouraged the group to take the fight elsewhere.

A bystander who filmed the fight said he was first alerted to the drama when he noticed Clarke and Stefanovic in a heated conversation.

Queensland Police issued a statement on Thursday afternoon.

Queensland Police are investigating an incident between a 30-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man captured on footage at Lions Park in Gympie Terrace, Noosaville earlier this month, police said on Thursday night.

As this incident on 10 January 2023 remains under investigation, the Queensland Police Service is unable to comment further.
