The tough matchup goes to Boston College

PROVIDENCE, RI –Brown women’s tennis lost a tough match 4-3 to Boston College on Tuesday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

“I was so proud of the effort our team put into today’s game,” the head coach said Lucie Schmidhauser“It’s great to see the leaps made by our players in their competitiveness as a coach. We will continue the great double play across the board, playing clearly and aggressively.”

The Bears led the match 1-0, winning the singles match. Senior Britany Sat and a sophomore Addison Ahlstromtook first doubles, 6-3, while the junior Nora Lee and a freshman Vivian Miller intercepted another double, 6-2.

Freshman Phoebe Peusimproved in the spring with a 2-0 win at fourth singles 6-3, 6-2. Ahlstrome came away with a hard-fought win at No. 5 singles, dropping the first set 6-4 before winning the next two 6-3, 6-3. Junior Olivia Mariottiwas also competitive at sixth singles, dropping two close sets 7-5, 7-6.

“In singles, Phoebe Peus showed great playmaking abilities in addition to her disciplined strategy,” said Schmidhauser. “Addie and Olivia competed well in the latter stages of the match. Addie showed so much composure in her three set win and Olivia competed bravely and fought until the last point of the match. As a coach, it is so great for me to work with a team that is so motivated and excited. get better every day.”
