No. 18 women’s tennis defeats Loyola Marymount 7-0 in opener

ANGELS The 18th-ranked UCLA women’s tennis team didn’t drop a single in its opening match of a dual meet on Wednesday, defeating Loyola Marymount 7-0 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

The Bruins (1-0) collected a pair of 6-1 wins in singles and never looked back, achieving the result in under two hours. Kimmy Hance, Vanessa Ong and Sasha Vagramov each prevailed twice a day when Open Catanzarite offered a nice win. Lions fell to 0-3.

Ong and Vagramov went six of seven games on the third doubles court to send Eva Marie Voracek and Kim-Michaela Zahraj of UCLA off on the right foot. Soon after No. 11 Hance and Elise Wagle followed by an identical result against Sofia Munera and Isabella Tcherkes-Zade, securing the first point of the day. Ong/Vagramov (9-4) and Hance/Wagle (8-2) have been part of the Bruins’ most doubles decisions of any combination since the fall.
