WOMEN’S TENNIS EQUIPMENT AT HOME, 4-3

INDIANAPOLIS The IUPUI women’s tennis team battled back after dropping a doubles point to secure three singles wins, but it wasn’t enough as the Jags lost their home match to Western Illinois 4-3. Samantha Hayward, Grace Lampman and Marta Krakowski every single recorded wins a loss.

Western Illinois won doubles point to start the match and take an early lead. Hayward and Emma Dell won the number one doubles match, 6-1 to keep the Jags in the battle for a double point, but the Leathernecks took doubles two and doubles three. Sarah Lounsbury and Lampman lost number two doubles, 6-3, while the partnership Krakowski and Sofia Castillo lost in third doubles 6-3.

IUPUI recorded three singles wins, with Hayward, Lampman and Krakowski each securing one. Hayward won at No. 1 singles 7-6, 6-1, freshman Lampman earned a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 3 singles and Krakowski won the No. 5 spot, 6-4, 7-6. Freshman Dell played at No. 1 singles and fell 6-3, 6-4, while Lounsbury lost at No. 4 singles in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Castillo lost at No. 6 singles 7-5, 7-6.

The Jaguars next travel to Dayton to face the Flyers on February 5th at 12:00 p.m.
