The Ducks finished 0-2 in the match for the second consecutive season with two bad losses. On Sunday, Kansas (2-1) cruised past Oregon (2-2) 4-0 to close out the weekend.

After a 4-0 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday, the Ducks were just hoping to bounce back with any success (or scoring) on ​​Sunday, but lost yet again.

The Ducks dug themselves a hole too big to dig out of with a double point loss and the loss of Myah Petchey.

Oregon was on the wrong end of a heartbreaking double point loss. Jo-Yee Chan and Ares Teixido Garcia won the first doubles match 6-3 to stay undefeated. They are now 2-0 with one on the year. But soon after, Petchey and Karin Young lost their doubles match to Carmen Roxana Manu and Jocelyn Massey 3-6 to tie the score. Petchey and Young are now 1-2 after combining in 2023.

The doubles point was based on the result of the first match. Sophie Luescher and Uxia Martinez Moral battled with Malkia Ngounoue to take the duo to a tie in the 13th set, but eventually fell in the set 6-8 to lose the match 6-7 and give the Jayhawks a double point win and 1-0. to lead.

Petchey had to withdraw from her match against Titova. It’s unclear why Petchey was waived, but he has dealt with injuries in the past. Nevertheless, he pulled the plug after losing his first set 0-6 and trailing 0-3 in the second.

Whatever the scenario for Petcheys’ departure, his loss gave Kansas a 2-0 lead in the game. Oregon would need to win four of the remaining five sets to defeat the Jayhawks. They got none of them.

Teixido Garcia won her first set against Roxana Manu 6-2, but lost the last two sets 1-6 and 3-6. The loss moves him to 2-2 in singles play on the year. Chan suffered his first singles loss of his college career. He went three sets with Velasquez (3-6, 6-2, 3-6), but couldn’t get the point Oregon needed. Losses to Chan and Teixido Garcias sealed the Ducks’ 4-0 loss.

The youth match was interrupted in the second round, where he lost 5-6. He lost his first set to Gagoshidze 4-6. Luescher fought for ITA No. 26, Ngounou. He lost his first set 6-7, but won 6-5 in the second set when their match was called.

Martinez Moral won his first set against Massey 6-1, but lost the second set 6-7. He came the closest to a singles victory for the Ducks, but he was unable to finish Massey and get the Ducks on the board.

Sunday’s loss adds to a disappointing weekend for Oregon that saw it shut out twice. The Ducks return to action at home on February 4 against Portland (1-1).
