This week’s Winter Watch features England. With a number of Sussex players representing England in different guises and at different levels, we’re rounding up all the action and looking at some great performances from our players in an England shirt.
Haines and Carson shine in Sri Lanka
It was a special week for Jack Carson and Tom Haines, who both made their Test debuts for the England Lions against Sri Lanka A.
Sussex skipper Haines scored a maiden Lions Test century, scoring 118 off just 138 balls, and this brilliant knock was followed by 4 wickets from Sussex spinner Jack Carson.
As of this writing, it is tea on the final day and England need 191 runs to win the final session. You can stay up to date with the scorecard here.
The Lions will play one more Test against Sri Lanka A on February 7.
Five for Foreman in Australia
As well as Haines and Carson visiting with the England Lions, Sussex currently have four players representing England U19s on their tour of Australia.
Archie Lenham, Bertie Foreman, Dan Ibrahim and Charlie Tear are all currently out of the under-19s, with Sussex spinning all-rounder James Coles also set to join them.
England Under-19s opened the tour with a four-day game against Australia Under-19s, with Bertie Foreman producing the performance of the match.
Foreman took 5 wickets in two innings and also scored an unbeaten 58 to help England win by 24 wickets.
Freya Davies and Danni Wyatt prepare for the Women’s T20 World Cup
The England women’s team continued their preparations ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup, which starts in a week.
Both Sussex’s Danni Wyatt and Freya Davies were in the team that beat New Zealand Women by 38 runs in their second warm-up game.
England Women begin their campaign against the West Indies on Saturday 11th February.

Jofra back in England shirt
Jofra Archer’s spectacular comeback continues! After being selected in the England men’s ODI squad against South Africa, Jofra repaid his faith with a career-best performance in the third ODI.
He finished with figures of 6-40 and bowled with excellent pace and accuracy to tear through the South African batsmen.
The ECB then announced that Jofra has been selected in both England’s ODI and T20 squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh.
