STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s hockey team is preparing for two Hockey East games this weekend. Both games will be played at the Toscano Family Ice Forum, with the first against Northeastern on Friday, February 10th and the second against Holy Cross on Saturday, February 11th.
In matches, UConn is still ranked 15th in the women’s DI hockey national poll. The Huskies are 16-10-4 overall and 10-9-4 in Hockey East action. Last Friday, UConn tied with Boston University 2-2 after a two-goal comeback in the third period by the Terriers.
The aim is to turn the tide for this weekend Jada Habischand senior captain Coryn Tormala a total of 18 goals, 16 assists and 34 points this season.
Husky patrol
Entering the game, Northeastern is ranked fifth in the national poll and posts a 25-2-1 overall record and a 21-2-1 conference record. Last time, the Huskies beat Boston University 4-1 on Tuesday. The leader was Maureen Murphy with two goals and one goal. Murphy has scored 17 goals and 25 assists this season.
Northeastern won both games against UConn on the 7th. October and October 8.
Crusader patrol
Entering the match, Holy Cross is 6-22-1 overall and 5-18-0 in Hockey East play. Last time out, the Crusaders fell to New Hampshire 7-4 on Sunday. Last game, Millie Sirum finished with two goals and an assist in the high scoring. That would make it two of his four goals this season.
This is the first matchup of the season between UConn and Holy Cross.
Puck drop is scheduled for Friday at 6pm EST and Saturday at 3pm EST. Friday’s game can be seen on NESN+ and Saturday’s game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
