Big tennis weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Commodores wrapped up their three-week home stretch this weekend by hosting Florida Atlantic, Oklahoma State and Belmont.

Finding opponents
Florida Atlantic: The weekend starts with Vandy taking on Florida Atlantic. The Owls are currently 5-5 on the season, but will travel to Clemson before heading to Music City. Vanderbilt is 1-0 against FAU; the only meeting between the two was a 4-3 Commodore win in 2007.

Oklahoma State: Vanderbilt welcomes Oklahoma State to campus for the first time Sunday morning for the second game of the weekend. The Cowboys, who currently hold a 6-2 record, will make a stop in Murfreesboro to play MTSU before traveling to Nashville. The only previous meeting between OSU and Vanderbilt took place in 2008 when Oklahoma State won 4-3.

Belmont: In the final game of the weekend, Vandy hosts crosstown foe Belmont. The Bruins make the half-mile trip to Vanderbilt on Sunday afternoon, bringing with them a perfect 5-0 record. The Dores are 12-0 overall against Belmont. The last match between them was last season; Vanderbilts win marked head coach Ian Duvenhages 200th at Vanderbilt.

You look at Dores
The Commodores are having a hot weekend. In singles, Michael Ross is riding a four-match winning streak, and Siim Troost is 4-1 with a two-match winning streak. Ross also has straight wins in doubles, including a two-match winning streak with partner Nathan Cox. Finally, Joubert Klopper and Macsen Sisam have won three consecutive doubles games and are 3-1 in the season.

Home game notes
Matches are played indoors at the Currey Tennis Pavilion on Saturdays and outdoors at the Lummis Family Tennis Center on Sundays, weather permitting. Admission is free, and parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage. New this season, Vanderbilt tennis matches will force a clear bag policy.

Next: Vanderbilt travels to No. 23 Northwestern on Feb. 26. The opening service is set for noon. The Commodores return home on March 2 to open SEC play against Arkansas.
