A Rogersville man is accused of accidentally shooting a teenager

ROGERSVILLE, Mo. (KY3) – A Rogersville man is accused of shooting a teenager Friday night.

Court documents show 23-year-old Tyler Tenni is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon while intoxicated and armed criminal action.

According to a probable cause report, a Webster County deputy was dispatched to a home on Timber Meadows Drive after receiving a report that a person had been shot in the face. When the deputy arrived, other first responders rendered aid to the victim, and Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole cleared the scene and collected the gun.

The authorities did a breathalyzer test on the tennis player, and the result was 0.092. Tennis told the authorities that he drank seven beers the day before the shooting.

Later that evening, while at the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Tennis told authorities that he, the victim and a woman with them were packing guns to go shoot the Olga River.

According to court documents, Tennis told investigators they had two of his father’s guns and they were looking at them, then they put the guns back, and Tennis pulled out his gun, not knowing if it was loaded or not. Tennis said he usually did not keep the gun loaded. Tennis said she was on her bed in her room and the teenager was on the floor. Tennis told investigators that he pushed the gun back and as soon as he let it go, the gun went off.

After the shooting, Tennis said he went to tell his mother, who was in the bath at the time. Tennis then called 911 and returned to the room to check for a pulse and begin CPR until Sheriff Cole showed up a few minutes later.

The detective spoke to Tennis towards the end of the interview and explained how drinking and handling a firearm is a crime and that the Olgajoki area where they were going to shoot was not in public use. When asked if there was anything else the detective needed to know, Tennis said, “This was a complete accident.”

According to court records, tennis is not allowed within 300 meters of the victim’s family, alcohol is not allowed and it is not allowed to be in contact with the victim’s family. He is being held at the Webster County Jail on $20,000 bail.
