PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown women’s tennis, ranked No. 42 in the latest ITA Rankings, defeated Division III Tufts University 5-2 in the semis on Tuesday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

The Bears improve to 8-3 on the year and 5-1 at home, while the Jumbos, who have competed in just two spring games so far, are now 1-1.

The double game secured the first point of the match. Junior Nora Lee and a sophomore Lindsey Hofflander won first doubles (6-3), while the juniors Ali Benedict and Olivia Mariotti took the second double (6-3).

Second year student Addison Ahlstrom opened singles play with a win at fourth singles (6-2, 6-3), while Benedetto won first singles (6-1, 7-5) and Hofflander clinched the match at sixth singles (6-4, 6-3, 6-3). Lee won at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-1) for the final Bears point of the day.
